The Australian Tertiary Education Commission (ATEC) is leading the development of a Tertiary Roadmap, building on JSA’s report, Opportunity and Productivity: Towards a Tertiary Harmonisation Roadmap.
Through the Roadmap, ATEC will identify the next steps to better support students to move into and between the VET and higher education sectors, and ensure the tertiary system is set up to help learners gain the skills and qualifications that match current and future workforce needs.
To support consultation, ATEC has developed a discussion paper which focuses on learner experiences and identifies barriers people face when entering, moving between, and engaging across vocational education and training (VET) and higher education and invites feedback on how they could be addressed through the Roadmap.
Stakeholders are invited to consider the discussion questions and provide feedback on reform opportunities identified, including highlighting any significant gaps or suggesting additional opportunities.
Have your say on the next steps towards a more joined-up tertiary system by making an online submission by Monday 22 June 2026.
