This interim Statement of Strategic Priorities sets out six key areas of focus for the ATEC:
- National, State/Territory and Regional Priorities
- First Nations
- Equity
- Quality Teaching
- A Joined-Up Tertiary System
- Research
State and territory governments have contributed to the interim SSP by nominating priorities for higher education in their respective jurisdictions.
An important function of the interim SSP is guiding the development of foundation mission based compacts for 2027 with eligible higher education providers. This week, the ATEC provided accompanying guidance material to providers asking them to relate the priorities outlined in the SSP to their unique mission and strategic objectives, through the development of a new mission based compacts.
The ATEC will develop a new SSP for 2027-28 following the broad consultation parameters outlined in legislation. This process is expected to commence later in 2026.
